intentional or negligent act of another business may seek monetary damages in civil
court, although sometimes courts will issue injunctions ordering the defendant to cease
certain unlawful activities. Some of the business torts can be fraud, breach of
fiduciary duty, unfair competition etc.
- Criminal Litigation
Criminal Litigation are disputes where one of the parties to the dispute is the
State and the other party may be an individual or a company. Criminal Litigation
involves defending the client in the trial court and then further representing the
client in higher courts i.e. the High Court and the Supreme Court. Criminal Litigation
includes crimes under the Indian Penal Code 1860, Bail matters, any crime under special
acts such as the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act 1987, The Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985, etc. Criminal Litigation may also include
matter related to white collar crimes such as securities fraud, embezzlement, corporate
fraud, money laundering, etc.
